The Classy Weekend Look
While Saturday night is a whole hip trip in itself, and it takes sass and spunk to pull the party look off, Sundays are all about uncluttered comfort. Still, in these style-driven days, even though God himself deicded to rest on Sundays, fashion will not let anybody idle their away!.
There is a Sunday look that has to be evolved and explored, and depending on the personality of the man, he can invert his own Weekend Wear idiom.
THE OUTDOORS MAN:
He’s rugged and cannot sit in the house very long. While he may work and live in the city, his heart yearns for the outdoors. He enjoys long drives and getting away into nature. Such a man needs to dress in a non-constricted way. The outdoors Look is generally layered, and not too tight. A lose shirt with a T-shirt worn inside, an comfortable baggy pants with slip-on sandals are essentials of this look.
THE SALTY SEAFARER:
He is more adventurous guy, a sea-lover who would happily go yachting, sailing or boating on the weekends if he could. If none of the above is possible, then a jog down Mumbai’s Worli Sea Face would suffice! HE’s the sort who would wear sneakers without socks, teamed with baggy Bermudas an T-shirts.
THE IVY LEAGUE LACKEY:
He has probably been to Harvard an has been to American University or aspired to! His weekend dressing is preppy. Casual chinos an khaki trousers, or even corduroy jeans, worn with candy-colored shirts with a Polo or Lacoste logo. Or even crew-necked, half-sleeved pullovers. His slim belt will be in place, as will smart casual shoes. The idea is to look carelessly well-put-together!
THE COMBAT COLONEL:
Young men love this look. Military-inspired, it speaks of survival and toughness. Combat fatigue pants are the staple of this look, generally teamed with military green T-shirt. The clothing all looks slightly frayed! This is not very neat or crisp look. Boots are essential accompaniments to combat gear, as are chunky belts. Lots of pockets all over the place, preferably stuffed, are also important.
THE AMERICAN COWBOY:
This is the classic snug-fitted jeans and in-tucked shirt look that is timeless. It can be dressed up or dressed down. On Sunday mornings, the shirt can be half sleeved and the jeans can be light and comfortable “chappals” would work very well. In the evening the can be darker, and shirt can be bit more formals. Of-course, pot belly does not work. So if the obesity is in the genes, it’s best not to get into snug jeans.
